Cooper Pacific Celebrates 40 Years of Craftsmanship, Innovation and Family Legacy

Published: March 25, 2026

Cooper Pacific, the Southern California-based kitchen design firm, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, marking four decades of exceptional design, meticulous craftsmanship and family-driven innovation. Founded by Neil Cooper in 1986, the firm has grown from a stand-alone West Hollywood storefront into a destination for custom kitchens and high-end residential design, serving Hollywood legends, design connoisseurs and prominent clients worldwide.

From its early days in Minnesota, where Cooper developed a deep appreciation for design and craftsmanship, to the bold move west to Los Angeles, the firm has consistently combined careful planning, material expertise and functional design. Neil’s vision, along with the dedication of his wife Shirley and their sons, established a foundation of integrity, attention to detail and client-centered service that continues to define the firm today.

Under the leadership of second-generation principal designer Steven Cooper, Cooper Pacific has expanded its scope to encompass fully-realized homes. The firm now integrates kitchens, living spaces, bathrooms, wardrobes and outdoor kitchens, while maintaining the same commitment to quality and precision it was founded on. Steven, a respected member of the La Cornue Global Design Council and principal designer of Cabbonet Los Angeles, continues to advance the firm’s reputation for innovation in design and materials.

“Legacy gives me direction,” explains Steven. “It’s a reminder of where we came from and an inspiration for where we’re going. As a small, family-owned business, every project we take on reflects the care, craftsmanship and attention to detail my father instilled in us, while also addressing the needs and expectations of today’s clientele.”

Giselle Cooper, who has been integral to the firm’s modern direction since joining in 2015, adds, “Working alongside Steven and the team, we focus on creating spaces that respond to our clients’ evolving needs while maintaining a consistently superior standard of quality. Celebrating 40 years is a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and how much more creative and innovative work there is to do.”

Key milestones from the firm’s past 40 years include the opening of its original 7,000-square-foot showroom at the Pacific Design Center and the introduction of SieMatic to the West Coast. The firm has also collaborated with top designers including Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Mark D. Sikes, Timothy Corrigan, Jeff Andrews and Natasha Baradan, as well as distinguished partners such as La Cornue, AGA, John Michael Studio and Thomas Hayes Studio. The opening of the firm’s new studio at the Pacific Design Center in 2024 also aligned with the launch of Cabbonet Los Angeles – the West Coast outlet for the revered British cabinet maker – further demonstrating Cooper Pacific’s dedication to advancing the limits of luxury residential design while maintaining its core principles.
