KBB’s executive editor Chelsie Butler recently spoke with Dannielle Karr, director of marketing for Control4, as well as Jeff Thomas, vice president of product for Control4, which is a home automation and smart home control brand. We discussed advancements in smart lighting, as well as how to find a reputable integrator or smart home expert to join your design team.
According to Thomas, with the technology advancements that have been developed over the last several years, we have more options, and more lighting is being added to rooms in homes than what was typically specified. Smart lighting can do things like enable the use of keypads that simplify that lighting control.
Karr says that when she’s talking with interior designers about smart lighting, they start realizing this isn’t your average lighting design. It’s thinking not only about the aesthetics of the lighting but how it can tie in with things like music, automation or security to create not only a one-room environment, but a multiple-room environment where a single room is performing different functions in an easy and accessible way.
Thomas and Karr also talked about some of the new enhancements that are available for smart lighting projects, such as dimming at different levels and some other exciting and functional developments that tie into things like security and entertainment.
