ASID Welcomes 2013 Board of Directors

The American Society of Interior Designers’ (ASID) 2013 board of directors assumed office on October 1, 2012. The 11-member board is made up of three officers (past president, president and president-elect), six directors-at-large, one Industry Partner representative and one chapter support team representative.

“ASID is committed to advancing the profession through collaboration, research and initiatives that expand business opportunities for members in a global marketplace,” said Barbara Marini, FASID, IDEC, incoming ASID president. “Communicating the impact of interior design on the human experience is a key message and focus for the board as we move forward. Expanding our knowledge of the built environment and developing strategies to share critical information will position the society as a leader in the interior design profession. I am excited about our opportunities and the future of ASID.”

The 2013 ASID board of directors includes president Barbara Marini, FASID, IDEC, who serves as the interior design program chair at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Troy, MI, and has owned her own commercial interior design firm, Marini Interiors Inc., since 1987. The president-elect Rachelle Schoessler Lynn, FASID, CID, LEED AP BD+C, is a senior associate with Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle and serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, past president Lisa Henry, FASID, LEED AP, is the Knoll Southwest region architecture and design director.

The directors-at-large include Vincent G. Carter, FASID, a senior program manager and architect for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Matthew DeGeeter, ASID, LEED AP ID+C, an industry blogger, as well as a contributor to HealthCare Design and Contract magazine websites; Steffany Hollingsworth, ASID, NMLID, a founding partner of HVL Interiors in Santa Fe, NM; Barbara J. Huelat, FASID, EDAC, AAHID, the author of Healing Environments: Design for the Body, Mind & Spirit; Sonya B. Odell, FASID, an advisor with Texas-based consulting firm Wayne O’Neill & Associates; and Laura McDonald Stewart, ASID, LEED AP, the founder of online magazine PLiNTH & CHiNTZ.

The incoming chapter support representative is Joan Kaufman, ASID, LEED AP, a past chair of the ASID Chapter Support Team and a past president of the ASID Illinois chapter. Jen Bruno, the new industry partner representative, is the national training manager for Hansgrohe.
