Announcing the Winners of the Fantini Design Awards

Published: August 19, 2019

Fantini USA has announced the winners of its third-annual Fantini Design Awards, which recognizes excellence in kitchen and bath design throughout North America. Architects, designers and building developers were called upon to submit projects inspired by water that show how Fantini products helped turn their visions into reality.

The Fantini Design Awards selected seven winners, six from the category of completed projects and one future project. Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges, Stefano Giussani, CEO Lissoni Inc.; Willian Hanley, editor in chief of Dwell; and Zahid Sardar, editor in chief of SPACES, on the basis of creativity, design, inspiration and quality of the submitted materials.

Completed category winners are:

To bring the essence of Southern California to the Pacific Northwest, Vanillawood wanted the architecture and design of this home to be dramatic, elegant and simple. Fantini’s Mare and Mint collections were selected for their simplicity as well as craftsmanship. Mare was done in a matte-black finish to create a dramatic, masculine statement in the boys’ bathroom. For the master bath, the fixtures needed to be elegant and sexy to match the drama of the imported marble tiles, and the Mint Collection delivered.

Ross Residence
Designer: Sidell Pakravan Architects, Berkely, Calif.

Sidell Pakravan chose the AF/21 Collection from Aboutwater by Boffi and Fantini for this space because it echoed the minimal but materially rich design strategy that was used throughout the house. The homeowners wanted a modern home that still maintained the home’s historic character. The elegance of the AF/21 fixtures are complemented by the Heath tile.

City House
Designer: Cindy Rendely Architexture, Toronto

Cindy Rendely Architexture chose Fantini products to help heighten the simplicity of this home in Toronto. The materials and finishes chosen work well with the neutral color palette of the home.

Greenwich Modern
Designer: AMB Design, Salt Lake City

AMB Design’s approach to interior design is to create authentic living spaces that reflect the lifestyle of the clients. These fixtures were selected because they exude subtle elegance. Fantini’s Venezia and Milano collections provide additional beauty and comfort, as well as form and function.

Forest Hill Residence
Designer: ACDO, Toronto

ACDO designed a space that merges modern family life with the traditional nature of a Tudor-Georgian home. Fantini’s Venezia Collection was selected for the master bathroom because of its traditional craftsmanship and modern design. In the powder room, ACDO wanted to create a spirited space with metallic accents; the custom marble vanity with a back-lit three-way mirror adds elegance to the room, and the polished-chrome finish of the Venezia fixtures reinforce a space that plays on reflection.

Art & Light Apartment
Designer: Andrew Mikhael Architect, New York City

Throughout this apartment, forms of light were created to act as their own sculptural elements, including in the bathroom. When designing this space, Andrew Mikhael Architect wanted it to feel like an airy and clean respite from the city’s hectic atmosphere. White fixtures were selected as a way of creating this aura. Fantini’s Levanta Collection was chosen because of how it matched the design intent of the room, flowing with the white trim of the shower, tiles and across to the hallway outside.

The Future Category winner:

Central Park West
Designer: Spivak Architects, New York City

                                                     Photography Courtesy: Spivak Architects

Designing the master bathroom in the Central Park West residence, Spivak Architects wanted to create a Zen, serene atmosphere while also exuding luxury. AF/21 from Aboutwater by Boffi and Fantini was selected for its “purity of design and emphasis on the material.” The brushed finish slate provides a neutral background, and teak accents add a warm touch.

One representative per winning project will travel to the Fantini headquarters on Lake Orta in Pella, Italy, this October as a part of a 4-day, all-expenses-paid trip. While on a tour of Fantini’s state-of-the-art factory and headquarters designed by Piero Lissoni, winners will experience local traditions for the area and stay at Fantini’s exclusive resort – Casa Fantini/Lake Time.
