Angi, the home improvement platform formerly known as Angie’s List, has just released its latest 2025 State of Home Spending Pulse Report, offering a timely look at how homeowners are adapting their plans in response to rising costs and economic uncertainty.
From inflation-driven delays to rising stress over repairs, here’s what 1,000 surveyed homeowners told Angi about how they are navigating home maintenance and improvement in 2025.
This mid-year check-in finds that 71% of homeowners have delayed a planned project this year, with inflation, high interest rates and economic concerns topping the list of reasons.
But it’s not just about cutting back, it’s about adapting. Additional findings in the Pulse Report include: 71% of homeowners say they are now focusing on preventative maintenance to avoid bigger issues later, 62% are more concerned about affording maintenance than they were at the end of 2024, and 48% report that the stress of home repairs has increased since January. Homeowners now expect to stay in their homes five years longer than originally planned.
These findings highlight a shift in homeowner behavior, with many focused on practical, value-driven improvements rather than large-scale remodels.
