When designing kitchens and baths, balancing accessible storage with high-end style is a constant challenge. Felicitas Lechner, marketing manager for Hettich America, recently shared insights on our “From the Tap” podcast into a product turning heads – and cabinets – in the industry. The FurnSpin was named the 2025 KBB Kitchen Product of the Year and completely redefines how we approach traditional cabinetry.
Evolving Beyond the Lazy Susan
Born from the success of Hettich’s appliance-focused ComfortSpin, the FurnSpin takes rotational storage to the next level. Instead of an internal spinning shelf sitting inside a static box, the entire cabinet body rotates 180 degrees on its own axis. With a simple push, closed storage effortlessly transforms into open shelving. This synchronized swivel movement eliminates the physical limitations of sliding, folding or hinged doors, helping designers maximize square footage in tight or uniquely shaped spaces.
Unmatched Aesthetic Versatility
From an aesthetic standpoint, the FurnSpin system offers total creative freedom. Because the hardware only requires attachments at the top and bottom of the unit, cabinet makers can build the rotating body out of nearly any material. As long as the unit has the freestanding clearance to swivel, it can seamlessly integrate into luxury projects.
A Bright Future for FurnSpin
For designers eager to see what is next, Hettich is preparing a new iteration that brings built-in brilliance to the mechanism. A forthcoming illuminated version will feature automatic lighting activated by the swivel motion, complete with completely concealed cable management for a flawless, modern finish.
KBB Product Awards
As Lechner noted, earning recognition through prestigious competitions like the KBB Product Awards plays a massive role in building brand trust and highlighting these industry-shifting innovations. The KBB Product Awards program celebrates excellence across people, projects and products, offering a platform for designers and manufacturers to showcase their most impactful ideas. For designers, awards like these signal best-in-class innovation and provide an ever-expanding toolkit to bring brilliant client visions to life.
