REMADE is a new bespoke offering from European handmade tile brand Bert & May. Using traditional manufacturing techniques and materials to reimagine rare, original tiles, the artisan cement tile makers ensure that the patina and colors are reflected in their natural form. Shown above is Monsaraz, first found as a reclaimed lot from Southern Spain. Bert & May’s tile makers fell in love with the intricate detail and unique design. The design was lovingly recreated in their artisan workshop in muted chalky colors close to the originals.
Bert & May can also use their 40-color palette to color match, or offer additional custom capabilities. If you’ve seen an original tile, whether in our reclaimed collection, on your travels or even in a photo, their artisan cement tile makers can recreate any design as close as possible to the original design. They are able to use any color from their palette or if you have a particular color in mind, they can work to match it.
Bert & May was born from a passion of reclamation and restoration, discovering and rescuing unique treasures that were built to last a lifetime. Every so often, they find an original tile that stops them in their tracks, proving that great design and craftsmanship is timeless. For years, they’ve worked on special projects to recreate and reinvent antique and reclaimed one-off tiles, given their very limited quantities.
Bert & May is now rolling out the REMADE service, with a team at the ready to remake a bit of history.
