Nest Studio The Knot Series

The Knot Series transforms wood sculptor Katie Gong's large-scale bent woodwork through the process of lost-wax casting into knobs and pulls.

Hardware brand Nest Studio and California-based wood sculptor Katie Gong introduce The Knot Series, transforming Gong’s large-scale bent woodwork through the process of lost-wax casting into knobs and pulls. Through Knot, pliable wood becomes tactile, brass hardware, pushing the boundaries of metalwork.

Founder and creative director of Nest Studio Jessica Davis sourced Gong’s sculptures for her interior design projects, including using two pieces in her own home. Davis was drawn to the organic nature of the knots and felt an affinity to Katie being half-Asian. Seeing how they could translate into handles and ultimately hardware, the two collaborated during the past three years to introduce the four-piece collection. Some of the knots are so simple, yet others are complex, really making the collection a true representation of Gong’s art form.
