On this week’s From the Tap podcast, we delved into what it takes to be a brand ambassador in the kitchen and bath industry with seasoned designer Kerrie Kelly of California-based Kerrie Kelly Design Lab. She shared with us how she has gotten involved with various brands throughout the years and which ones she is working with now. Hint: Her blog got her noticed by a handful of kitchen and bath companies back in 2010.
Kelly also delved into the benefits she receives from being a brand ambassador, as it is definitely a two-way street. She suggests honoring the brands you really believe in and truly want to specify, otherwise the partnership may fall flat. And the partnership can involve such things as posting about the brands and products on social media, designing products, judging contests, creating mood boards and serving on design councils. These relationships can be short, depending on the level of collaboration, but Kelly says three years is the “sweet spot” for her involvement with a brand.
The designer works with a variety of brands now, so watch the video or listen to the podcast on Spotify, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Pandora and other outlets to learn more, including tips for becoming a brand ambassador, what happens when you have to decline an offer and how much time you need to invest.
