Asher Slaunwhite Architects Partner Named VIP of Philadelphia ICAA

Published: November 19, 2021

Asher Slaunwhite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of partner Deborah Slaunwhite to vice president of ICAA (The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art), Philadelphia Chapter.

A board member since June 2019, Slaunwhite was named to the executive board as vice president in July of this year, and her appointment was approved in September. Before holding a board position, she sat on the planning committee for the organization’s Trumbauer Awards Ceremony.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture, Slaunwhite is deeply rooted in classical architecture. She joined Asher Architects in 2008 and in 2018 became partner. Prior to joining Asher, Slaunwhite worked with Curtis and Windham Architects in Houston; Catalano Architects, Ann Beha Architects and Boyes-Watson Architects in Boston; and Neumann Lewis Buchanan Architects in Washington, DC.

“All of the firms I worked for allowed me to further develop my ability to design and appreciate traditional architecture outside of an academic setting,” said Slaunwhite. “Sharing with other design professionals these opportunities and learning more about classical architecture and how it is still relevant in today’s built world is very important. I believe that the basic tenants of proportion still apply to the most successful contemporary designs.”
