Artist Jess Murphy is proud to introduce The Lawns, a new online shop for her high-art wallpapers, that give back to the community.
The shoppable collection is an extension of The Lawns Collective, a New York based creative consulting studio founded in 2017 by Jess Murphy. With over ten years of experience in concept, color, design, and development, Jess has turned her expertise in design and passion for home goods to the development of The Lawns wallcoverings. This project was conceived in March 2020 as New York City issued its first stay at home order. Like many businesses affected by the pandemic, Jess sought new creative outlets in response to the shifting industry landscape. The Lawns Collection is a synchronized effort in assuaging anxiety through artistic practice, while supporting organizations fighting for a more equitable society. A percentage of sales of these wallcoverings support nonprofit organizations Coalition for the Homeless and Sky High Farm.
The inaugural collection sources inspiration from movie streaming benders, past travels, rainy mornings, and internet wormholes. A culmination of a year at home, launching in the following designs:
Inspired by 1920’s Hawaii, with a modern sensibility, Quint Botanical was Jess’s first custom wallpaper. A friend of Jess’s couldn’t find anything on the market she loved and, feeling overwhelmed, turned to Jess to create a custom design. Incorporating her friend’s favorite fruit, the pineapple, Jess has decided to expand upon the design offering it in three colorways using domestically sourced and printed FSC certified clay coated paper and non-woven vellum. Available in three colorways – Clay, Apricot, and Jade.
