Having produced ceramic tile for more than 8,000 years, Turkey is currently the fourth largest tile-producing nation in the world. With the catchphrase “Turkishceramics… Four Elements… One Inspiration,” the industry focus is on how the manufacturing process remains based on nature with earth, air, fire and water being the major components.
Exports are surging as Turkey is now one of the world’s top five exporters of ceramic tile and sanitaryware. In 2017, Turkey exported $552 million of ceramic tile material, and $231 million of ceramic sanitaryware. The country is the third largest producer of ceramic tile in Europe. In 2017, Turkey exported $66 million of ceramic tiles and $11 million of sanitaryware to the United States, a 12 percent increase over the previous year. The U.S., in particular, continues to be a rising market for Turkish ceramic materials.
Turkey is blessed with an abundance of pure natural resources. Add to that, an 8,000-year history of ceramic production, and what results is an ongoing tradition of excellence in every phase of ceramics, from concept to delivery. The Turkish Ceramics Industry today is characterized by flexibility, fast delivery, responsiveness, experienced manpower, wide range of products, state-of-the-art technology and world-class design capabilities.
“Immodestly, we not only have a long tradition of producing the highest quality ceramic materials, we also have a long history of doing business the right way,” said Erdem Çenesiz, chairman of the Turkishceramics Association. “We listen to the marketplace and then deliver very specific ceramic products based upon marketplace demand.”
