HI-MACS

Designed by Charlotte Raynaud, Le Baou, a Provençal word meaning “rock,” is a contemporary island in HI-MACS that was inspired by the jagged lines of a rock. “Carved” from HI-MACS Crystal Beige, the monolith appears to have been created from a single block. It discreetly houses the induction hub, dishwasher and sink while the rest of the appliances are hidden in the different cupboards to the back. Making the island required great precision and extensive technical skills because each side is tilted and boards had to be cut at an angle so that all sides fit together perfectly. The properties of HI-MACS offer freedom in terms of shape, allowing for this creative design.
