Whirlpool Corp. has opened a new “World of Whirlpool” facility in Chicago that will serve a resource for designers and trade customers. With nearly 30,000 sq. ft., the location will showcase the company’s home appliance brands.
“We’ve worked hard since I’ve been mayor to transform our economy, to keep existing jobs here and to bring the jobs and businesses of the future to Chicago and to solidify Chicago’s ability to compete nationally and globally,” said Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Since the recession began, more than 100 businesses have expanded or located downtown and in our neighborhoods, creating much needed jobs. Today, Whirlpool—the world’s leading manufacturer of major home appliances—joins that group.”
Whirlpool also adhered to green principles when renovating the space by using locally sourced construction materials, materials with recycled and renewable content and low-flow plumbing fixtures. The new facility is located in the Reid Murdoch Center, 325 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago.
