Enter Baldwin’s 2011 Hardware Design Competition Today!

Published: March 17, 2011

Show off your skills in Baldwin’s national hardware design competition for interior designers and architects. The contest requires entrants to conceive of an original line of cabinet hardware, and the winner will have their designs manufactured as a Baldwin collection bearing their name. The winning designer will be announced at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and the collection will be launched in early 2012.

“We’re excited to provide both established and up-and-coming designers with the opportunity to add their name to an exclusive luxury hardware line,” said Rob Empfield, Baldwin hardware brand manager. “We are accepting concepts in all forms, from a sketch on a napkin to a digital model. The winner’s line will receive tremendous exposure, joining the ranks of Baldwin’s highly regarded product collections, known for setting the bar in the hardware industry.”

The contest is open until April 10, 2011, and entrants are free to design hardware for any architectural style or create something that truly reflects their personal design aesthetic. The submissions can be made in any form from tight drawings to photos of clay models to basic sketches.

A judging panel of industrial designers and marketing experts will choose the top two designs. Full 3D models of the finalists’ designs will be created and displayed at Baldwin’s KBIS booth (#5042), April 26-28, in Las Vegas, NV.  KBIS attendees will then vote for their favorite design to determine the winner. Baldwin will manufacture and bring to market the winning concept, which will be named after the designer under the Baldwin brand. The collection will be featured on Baldwin’s website, as well as in marketing collateral and merchandising materials.
