The ASID Foundation has introduced a new $12,000 student scholarship. To be awarded biannually, the David Barrett Memorial Scholarship will recognize an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student’s work that demonstrates an interest and ability in utilizing classical designs and traditional materials, inclusive of furniture and fabrics.
The scholarship is open to all full-time students in their junior or senior year of undergraduate or graduate study majoring in interior design at an accredited college or university. Both ASID members and nonmembers can apply.
To enter, all applicants must submit a personal statement, letter of recommendation, prepared design portfolio featuring eight to 12 design components with a written description detailing how classical designs and traditional materials are used in each design component.
The application deadline is December 1, 2011 and online applications can be found at www.asidfoundation.org. The ASID Foundation will review all submissions and select a winner based on the stated criteria. All entrants will be notified of their status by mail in January 2012, and the award payment will be made directly to the student.
