On July 9, 2014, Aquatic shared the country’s shock and sadness upon hearing the news of a shooting that claimed the lives of six of the seven members of the Stay family in Spring, Texas. Aquatic also learned that one of their customers had been a victim.
Hajoca team member Stephen Stay was killed, along with his wife Katie and four of their five children. Stephen’s eldest child, Cassidy, was the lone survivor. Another Hajoca team member affected by the tragedy is Drue Lyon, brother of Katie Stay.
At a recent memorial ceremony for the family, the theme was “Stay Strong,” borrowing from the words of 15-year-old Cassidy Stay. After having been shot alongside her mother, father and siblings, Cassidy showed amazing courage in saving her own life and the lives of extended family members who lived nearby.
Only days after surviving the loss of her parents and siblings, Cassidy spoke at the service, quoting her favorite book from the Harry Potter series: “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.”
A trust fund for Cassidy and her family has been created and donations can be made at www.stayfamilyfund.org. All of the funds donated via this website go to the trust account.
