LG Gas Dryers Certified for 2015 Energy Star Specification

Published: October 3, 2014

LG Electronics is the first home appliance manufacturer to announce certified gas dryers. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has qualified six new LG Energy Star gas dryers and eight new LG Energy Star electric dryers, following verification by the independent third-party certification body CSA Group.

All the LG Energy Star-certified clothes dryers, available in the U.S. beginning this fall, feature LG’s TrueSteam and Sensor Dry technologies. The Sensor Dry system measures the moisture and humidity levels during the cycle and automatically adjusts the drying time to help conserve energy and ensure proper drying time. LG TrueSteam technology minimizes wrinkles with gusts of real steam, which is more effective than dryers that spray mist into the dryer drum.

“Consistent with our long-standing commitment to introducing some of the most energy-efficient home appliances on the planet, LG is proud to lead the way in Energy Star-certified gas dryers,” said Chris Jung, U.S. president, home appliances, LG Electronics, a 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year.

According to the EPA, if all residential clothes dryers sold in the U.S. meet these new requirements, the utility cost savings will grow to more than $1.5 billion each year, and more than 22 billion pounds of annual greenhouse gas emissions would be prevented.
