The K+BB staff kicked off the 2015 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show this morning with a sneak peak of the newest products even before the show floor opened. This year, the second Design & Construction Week is welcoming more than 125,000 residential design and construction professionals and more than 3,500 exhibitors in total.
Elmwood Fine Custom Cabinetry is introducing a line of self-propelled, remote controlled cabinets ideal for business centers, art hideouts or extra storage. Complete with pullout counters and soft close doors, the cabinets show off the newest in modern, clean line design—a trend that’s frequenting this year’s show. European designs, like channel type cabinets, were also shown in both indoor and outdoor casings.
Purcell Murray also picks up on the European aesthetic with La Cornue, which boasts high-end cooking ranges and ovens. Shown in appliances like the Chateau range, the handmade brand has a patented vaulted oven with an artisan look. Another innovative product showcased at Purcell Murray was the Top Brewer, which can make a range of coffee drinks with the touch of an iPhone app.
Formica’s partnership with Jonathan Adler has tapped into the reemerging laminate market. Although consumers often still struggle with associating laminate with dated design, the durable and long lasting material is coming back because of its versatility and inexpensive nature. Adler’s take on the glossy surfacing is a series of fresh, colorful designs that easily update kitchens and baths.
James Martin Furniture had a new idea with near custom cabinetry, which lowers the price point for consumers but still offers the flexibility of a custom design. The company also introduced leather wrap tops—a line of waterproof counter surfaces made of recycled leather.
