With its fluted mirrored glass, Cesar has reinterpreted an iconic design feature through a contemporary vision of the kitchen and the home.
In Cesar’s design language, materials are not merely construction elements but true expressive tools. This research originates in the kitchen environment and now expands into new applications, exploring surfaces and finishes that combine innovation, aesthetic sensitivity and compositional freedom. An approach that reflects the idea of an increasingly fluid and personal domestic space.
Within this journey, Cesar introduced fluted mirrored glass, a material that reinterprets a historic design feature, projecting it towards new expressive possibilities. In line with the brand’s ambition to offer increasingly comprehensive solutions for the entire home, this finish is applied both in kitchens and in its Home Elements, further expanding Cesar’s design language.
Fluted glass originated in architecture and design in the first half of the 20th century and is distinguished by a surface marked by vertical grooves, creating a rigorous and orderly visual rhythm. A distinctive texture that is now reinterpreted through a mirrored finish, evoking a retro-futuristic dimension.
The production process combines technical precision with material sensitivity. The glass undergoes tempering, a process that enhances its hardness and impact resistance: the sheet is heated to high temperatures, up to 650 degrees Celsius, and rapidly cooled through air jets. The mirroring process follows with equal care, involving surface preparation and the application of a thin silver-based solution responsible for the reflective effect. Finally, a protective coating preserves the material’s quality and durability over time.
The result is a texture capable of transforming the perception of light: the grooves diffuse it into the space, creating soft, veiled shadows, while the mirrored surface reflects its surroundings, taking on what is around it and continuously changing appearance and character.
This solution aligns with Cesar’s vision of design that interprets the individual, adapting to different aesthetic sensibilities and shaping environments that reveal the personality of those who inhabit them.
