Mamoli Sottsass Collection Faucets

Eclectic, free and irreverent, the Sottsass Collection from Mamoli stems from the unmistakable signature of Ettore Sottsass, a figure who redefined the language of contemporary design through a poetic and unconventional vision. In his approach, design was never merely a functional response, but an opportunity to rethink the relationship between objects, space and everyday life. Objects thus become active presences, capable of accompanying daily gestures and expanding the domestic experience into emotional and sensory dimensions.

This project aims to develop a collection of taps that interprets the use of water as both an everyday and symbolic act. Its defining feature is the hot-enameled Y-shaped lever, a bold and instantly recognizable graphic sign that moves independently from the tap body, separating mechanism from form and enhancing the ritual of gesture through precise mechanics and a metaphysical visual language.

The cylindrical body, both austere and almost monumental, combines with the lever in a synthesis that blends formal rigor with expressive tension. The result is a radical object, where function intertwines with a poetic and perceptual dimension. As often in Sottsass’s work, elementary forms are reinterpreted with freedom and expressive intensity, giving life to an object that goes beyond mere use to engage with the user, becoming part of the everyday theater of the home.

Like an incursion of counterculture into daily life, the Sottsass Collection from Mamoli introduces a rupture in the language of tap design, restoring to the object a broader dimension in which function, sign and perception coexist.
