“We developed the Rising Stars Award to acknowledge and support new design talent and underscore our dedication to educate the future of our industry,” said David Santiago, IFDA NY president. “IFDA’s mission through its programs and services is to enhance the professionalism and stature of the industry worldwide.”
The awards recognized one Product Design Honoree and three Interior Design Honorees.
Product Design Honoree: Allison Kettlewell, Kettlewell Collection
Kettlewell is the founder and creative force behind Kettlewell Collection, which she launched in 2017. Guided by her passion for handcrafted artistry, Kettlewell’s design process celebrates traditional techniques such as block printing, embroidery, patchwork, appliqué, and handwoven and jacquard textiles. Her work is driven by her love of the natural world and antique fabrics sourced from across the globe, resulting in timeless pieces that honor heritage craftsmanship while embracing contemporary design.
Interior Design Honoree: Rob Johansen, RJ
Johansen is a New York-based interior designer, with a focus on historic collectible design in projects all over the country as well as in Mexico and the U.K. His concept of pairing classical design with sharp, minimalist, futuristic pieces creates an effect he likens to “time hopping” – combining the original paneling, antiques and Deco-era pieces juxtaposed with modernist furnishings, which encompasses impermanence and fluidity, creating his timeless style. Prior to founding his firm in 2021, Johansen designed for Ingrao Inc for nearly a decade. He earned a BFA from New York University.
Interior Design Honoree: Beril Khalaf, Beril Khalaf
Khalaf launched her career with a deep passion for merging interior design with artistic expression. With offices in Istanbul and New York, the construction administration is based in Turkey. The firm’s design portfolio spans the United States and other international locations. Specializing in residential and commercial spaces, the firm is driven by a commitment to crafting thoughtful, personalized environments that foster meaningful connections and elevate everyday living.
