WAC Lighting received the 2025 LEDucation Showstopper Award for its Aether 2-in. Remodel, an ultra-low-profile recessed LED downlight. The luminaire features a remodel housing with a patent-pending hinged junction design, which separates the driver and junction area to allow the J-box to bend and fit into shallow plenum spaces while deploying high-performance comparable to much larger fixtures.
Aether 2-in. is a series of recessed luminaires designed for plenum spaces as shallow as 2 inches without compromising lumen output, color rendition, glare control or functionality. Available in downlight, adjustable downlight and wall-wash versions, each is offered in round or square, trimmed or trimless, in an array of finishes. The trim and LED module is suitable for new construction or remodel housings, both of which are airtight, IC rated, and operate on 120V-277V universal voltage systems and dim with ELV, TRIAC and 0-10V dimming protocols.
The downlight provides powerful, general illumination. The adjustable offers 0-to-30-degree vertical tilt, making it well-suited for accenting illumination or sloped ceilings. The wall-wash option will illuminate large wall areas with uniform lighting. The adjustable wall-wash module uses an innovative, sweeping concentric design that simultaneously improves heat dissipation and keeps the center beam passing through the center of the aperture, regardless of the tilt angle.
As a family, the versatile, high-performance Aether recessed luminaires excel at lighting a wide range of environments, including residential, commercial, hospitality, and architectural spaces. At the core of each luminaire is a compact, innovative LED module. Easily removed or installed via rare-earth magnetic mounting, this feature also allows the heat from the LED to be dissipated into the housing. Able to deliver up to 1400 lumens with a center beam candlepower of 6500, with color rendering options of 85 and 90 CRI, it provides excellent performance for its size.
The 2025 LEDucation Showstopper Award was presented by Inside Lighting to Leigh Gice, functional product marketing manager for WAC Group.
