Houzz has released the 2025 Houzz U.S. Emerging Summer Trends Report, which identified new home design trends based on the latest search insights* from its community of U.S. homeowners, home design enthusiasts and home professionals. As summer approaches, homeowners are embracing bold, expressive and highly-personal design choices — many of which reflect a desire to blend creativity with comfort and style with functionality. According to the report, here is what’s heating up in homes this summer!
Color Schemes
Homeowners are turning up the volume on personal style with bold and expressive color schemes. Searches for “color drenching,” where a single hue is used across walls, trim and furniture, is up a staggering 4x. Whether opting for cool (up 3x) or warm (up nearly 2.5x) color schemes or getting artistic with monochromatic and analogous color schemes (up 2x each), homeowners are looking for professionals on Houzz to create immersive, mood-setting environments.
Monochromatic color schemes use variations of a single hue, while analogous color schemes utilize three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. An interior designer using Houzz Pro can lay out their brightest ideas in a visual Mood Board to see how everything will come together in any space.
Wood-Drenched Spaces
Natural materials remain a timeless favorite for their calming, grounding effect, and this summer, wood is making its mark in an even bigger way. Searches for “living rooms with light hardwood floors” soared 5x, while “wood paneled offices” and “woven wood shades” saw notable increases by nearly 1.5x each. White oak storage solutions also gained traction, particularly in kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities (up 46% and 20%, respectively).
Vintage Style
Vintage design has long had a steady presence in home interiors, but it’s seeing a significant surge in popularity as more homeowners bring authenticity, charm and character to their spaces. It may also offer an alternative solution to tariff-related pricing and supply chain challenges facing the industry.
