Moen Participates in PulteGroup Kitchen Throwdown

November 9, 2015

In an effort to provide product solutions based on consumer needs, Moen has joined forces with The PulteGroup for its Kitchen Throwdown Event – a celebration and competition to gain immediate consumer feedback on kitchen designs of the future.

The Kitchen Throwdown Event challenges supplier teams to build an inspiring kitchen vignette – targeting one of three specific lifestyle segments: affluent empty nesters, busy families and entertainment-focused millennials. Moen products were featured in each kitchen solution on display at The PulteGroup Innovation Center in Norcross, Georgia.

“As Pulte’s national faucet partner, we are thrilled to participate in all three vignettes for this unique occasion,” said Tim Shearer, senior director of national accounts, Moen. “While Moen’s products are always thoughtfully designed to meet consumer needs, we were excited to gain additional feedback from these key audiences as they personally interact within a kitchen setting that’s specifically designed for their lifestyles.”

During the event, Pulte partners had the opportunity to present their kitchen concepts to Pulte executives. Each kitchen design was rated based on new thought, alignment with Pulte principles and meeting the needs of the segment. In addition, targeted consumers had the opportunity to experience and provide feedback on the vignettes – to gain true insights and validate the proposed concepts.

“This exercise was designed to bring to life the best thinking from our key manufacturing partners,” said Diahann Young, director innovation and new product development, PulteGroup. “The Kitchen Throwdown Event helps us better understand our consumers and to deliver new home solutions that they will truly enjoy living in.”

Moen featured a diverse selection of products within the vignettes. The Empty Nester Cooking Enthusiast kitchen included an island with a Moen Low-Profile Divide stainless steel kitchen sink, a pulldown kitchen faucet and a coordinating modern soap dispenser. The Family Chef kitchen included a large, single-bowl Moen sink, the Arbor with MotionSense pulldown faucet and transitional soap dispenser within a large island; a prep area – also within the island – featured a separate bar/prep sink with accessories and the Arbor bar/prep faucet as well as a pot filler above the range. The Moen apron-front, double-bowl kitchen sink and the Align pulldown kitchen faucet and soap dispenser were among the products included in the Millennial Entertainer kitchen.
