GOLD: Kitchens Under $50K
“This small kitchen was extremely outdated, and the client wanted a forever dream kitchen for their young family. Brass light fixtures added warmth and interest, and floating shelves were installed so that personal accessories could be showcased. A coffee station was installed near the new peninsula, creating the perfect entertaining zone, and a large-format porcelain tile with beautiful veining was chosen to add impact in this small space.”

SILVER: Kitchens Under $50K
“After 23 years of cooking up a storm in their builder’s kitchen, the clients had big dreams. The island was designed to create a hub on one side for small gatherings but can accommodate larger groups if needed, its waterfall feature can be seen upon entering. The maple cabinets are clean lined with simple understated linear pulls, which allow the Dolomite marble countertops and backsplash to shine.”
– Rotem Golan, Ace of Space Interiors, Toronto, Ontario
“This existing kitchen did not reflect the clients’ personality or lifestyle and was worn out and with limited storage. This kitchen was dramatically transformed by introducing sleek, contemporary, custom cabinetry. Glossy white quartz countertops complement the clean lines of the matte cabinetry, and the refinished hardwood floor enhances the texture and color to the finished look. A modern built-in bench added extra storage and a pop of color and pattern.”
– Elena Gouchtchina, Maison Interiors, Toronto, Ontario
GOLD: Kitchens Over $50K
“This existing kitchen was dark and dimly lit and felt cramped and looming – not suited for a young family. The new layout opened up the existing space and allowed for a brighter and more spacious, welcoming kitchen. We relocated the sink and opened up the existing windows to accommodate an oversized window that allows the light to pour into the space. A white, light kitchen with elements of warmth and interest was achieved by incorporating natural walnut into the pantry and island in combination with matte white cabinets and honed Carrara marble. Two whimsical birdcage light fixtures add character and personality.”

SILVER: Kitchens Over $50K
“This space had dark, dated cabinetry, minimal lighting and an awkward peninsula that divided the kitchen from the living space. By removing the wall between the kitchen and the living room, this home got a complete open concept design. Decorative details like mullions, wallpaper and a gooseneck light create the backdrop to create multiple focal points. Lighting is key, and this kitchen was no exception, because the sconces flanking the range hood were a feature element to this space. Careful planning went into every aspect of this kitchen creating a functional, bright and expansive space.”

BRONZE: Kitchens Over $50K
“This project was a new build for an investor who wanted a family property that expressed their style and lifestyle. Contrasting colors of navy and white with a chevron marble tile were introduced to create a fresh and contemporary feeling. Macassar ebony veneers give this kitchen an edgy, urban touch and solid marble counters were used for ultimate luxury and style. The finished kitchen is inviting and warm while remaining fashion forward and transitional. Bright and fresh with light colors accented by deep navy make this kitchen timeless.”

GOLD: Bathrooms Under $30K
“A wish for a functional space while incorporating a sexy, minimal, European feel was no small task for this 30-year-old dark and dated space. The new design required a separate shower, a freestanding tub and a vanity with two sinks. Luxurious silk-infused glass in the sliding barn-style door and the adjacent window help to brighten the room, while the lit mirrors provide task lighting. The mosaic tile in the shower was repeated above the vanity, enhancing the bright, minimalistic, sexy European feel the clients were looking for.”
– Cara Lawson, Cara Interiors, South Surrey, British Columbia
SILVER: Bathrooms Under $30K
“This dated bathroom was full of hidden potential. While nestled in the country, the client wanted a blend of rustic and contemporary styling with modern conveniences and a masculine feel. The new color scheme echoes a handsome palette of smoky taupes and rich grays. This beautiful, rustic bathroom with contemporary touches strikes a perfect balance between country and city life.

BRONZE: Bathrooms Under $30K
“A stunning white and grey Bianco Carrara marble slab – that the clients loved – became the jumping off point for the design. A new floor plan provided a larger vanity area and a large soaker tub, while an accent tile ‘rug’ added interest to the room. Clean, white subway tile was used on the tub and shower walls, and luxurious radiant heating was added beneath the marble floors. The end result is a timeless, elegant master retreat that is luxurious and bright.”
– Jennifer Costello, Jennifer Costello Interiors, Newmarket, Ontario
GOLD: Bathrooms Over $30K
“This older home had many great design features, but when it came to the master ensuite, it lacked functional storage. And with the vanity located in the closet area, it lacked fluidity of use. Originally broken up in to five individual spaces – and with storage being of the utmost importance – we elected to design a large walk-through closet space and a slightly smaller but impactful ensuite. Switching the tub/shower combination out for a curb-less shower modernized this space.”
– Linda Mazur Olijnyk, Lina Mazur Design Group, Newmarket, Ontario
SILVER: Bathrooms Over $30K
“This master bath had numerous deficiencies, and the clients wanted a new design that included two sinks, better storage, more light and a touch of elegance. The custom-made vanity has metal ferrules imported from Israel and a custom designed mirror with wall sconces attached. The glassed-in shower was covered in a light and bright tile, with polished chrome accents in the plumbing fixtures and in the light fixtures and hardware. The clients now have an elegant, light-filled space with beautiful views to enjoy for years to come.”
– Lara Kalins, Breathe Interiors, Toronto
BRONZE: Bathrooms Over $30K
“The old bathroom was dark, dated and did not fit with the client’s contemporary style. Space was taken from the small walk in-closet, which was relocated to the large master bedroom. The finishing details such as the matching walnut-trimmed mirrors, under-vanity lighting, contemporary wall hooks for towels, makeup storage and hidden storage within the vanity were the little extras that elevated the design to the luxurious hotel feel we strived for.”
– Caroline Harrison, Caroline Harrison Designs Inc., Minesing, Ontario
GOLD: Powder Room
“This undefined space had dual function as a powder room and laundry room. The space was revamped with new millwork and a bold wallcovering. The patterned wallcovering was installed on all walls, and a contrasting silver paper was used on the ceiling and the back of the millwork shelving to add extra drama and sheen. Polished-chrome and glass accessories tie in the sheen from the ceiling and millwork and make the space feel just as special as any other area in the home.”
– LeAnne Bunnell, LeAnne Bunnell Interiors, Toronto
SILVER: Powder Room
“This basic builder powder room needed help. Using re-claimed wood for the vanity enhanced the design stylistically and aligned perfectly with our company ethos to re-use materials wherever possible. Extending the tiled backsplash to the ceiling as a feature wall was a unique and practical choice. Textured grasscloth wallpaper and unique herringbone marble tile add interest, while the reclaimed barn wood vanity is the focal point. Beauty was established in this powder room by layering rich colors, textures and lighting.”
– Gabriele Pizzale, Pizzale Design Group, Elmira, Ontario
BRONZE: Powder Room
“This utilitarian powder room had no style or personality, just function. Now brushed-brass hardware shines in contrast to the texture of the grasscloth wallcovering, while the marble countertop with mitered edges and the exotic Macassar ebony drawers display the attention to detail that was given to this space. This unique, custom space was achieved through exquisite workmanship, quality materials and on- trend materials.”
